Compassion without accountability breeds imprisonment. This is very very famous idea and there is actually a saying I am sure you are all aware of that fully encompasses this idea. “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.” This is why redistribution of wealth does not work. If we redistribute our wealth in this country what are we doing? We are giving that man a free fish, which, when we look at it, seams to be a great thing. But we have to look at the bigger picture, If that man knows he can get a free fish from us, is he going to go out, learn how to fish, and then put the effort in to actually fishing for himself? No he is going to wait around until we give him another fish. This only breeds imprisonment, as he is now dependent on us giving him fish to feed himself. But on the other hand if we never gave him that first fish, but instead taught him how to catch that fish for himself, in the short term we would seam like the evil ones, because we withheld our wealth from that poor man. But in the long term we prepared him to catch fish, feed himself, and maybe catch enough to sell the extras. Look, he is now a productive member of society, instead of a man waiting for his next fish. Compassion without accountability breeds imprisonment, remember that.

Who’s Paying for This?

When we look at President Obama’s “stimulus” packages, we have to ask ourselves, who is going to pay for this down the road. This is an extraordinary amount of money that we are throwing at the economy hoping something will stick and help. All these stimulus packages are only raising the countries debt. If we raise the debt in this country we are going to need to find a way to pay it off in the future. Eventually they are going to start raising taxes to start paying for all of this. Once they raise taxes, people in America are not going to be able to afford the small things. We can’t buy those presents we buy are friends every year. If we have someone to clean our house once a week, we might have to lay her off because we can no longer afford her. We have to see what the long term problems are going to be with these stimulus packages are going to be. In the long run these packages are going to hurt our economy far more than it will help it.

The Melting Pot

Reparations for slavery is a proposal by some in the United States that some type of compensation should be provided to the descendants of enslaved people, in consideration of the labor provided for free over several centuries, which has been a powerful and influential factor in the development of the country. This is the definition i found for reparation on wikipedia, and i have to say does that honestly make sense to you? Slavery was not a time to be proud of in American history, but it is not a time for african-americans from modern day to use to try to obtain personal gain. If my great grandparents forcibly worked hard labor for no money, that was wrong yes, but i have no entitlement too the potential earnings of the labor that he produced.

I am sure with almost certainty i can say that this world would be better without racism. But these types of acts that apply only to one race is not going to fix racism. We can not forget what happened in the past and we to learn from it to a point that we wont do it again, but in another sense we have to move on to become better as a nation.

If you ask a kid today what nationality he is, he will say “I’m a little Russian, a little German, a little this, a little that.” But what you wont hear is “I am 100% American.” This comes from teachings they learn from others, the teachings that we should be proud of our heritage. But are we putting to much emphasis on our heritage? Why are we more proud of the nations our ancestors came from than with the nation we are living in now? We should be proud of America and what it means to be called an American. Then and only then would we see people stop think, your ancestors are from Africa, or Asia, or Canada, but start thinking YOU are from america and that is how we are connected, not by race, but by nationality. We have to find common ground before we can truly be united. Then America would truly become the melting pot it has long been called.

Lets Take the Radio

The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was (in the Commission’s view) honest, equitable and balanced. It should be noted that this doctrine applies conclusively to radio. Why only radio you might ask, well let me tell you why. If you look at who dominates the radio frequencies you will see such names as Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh. What do these three men have in common? They are all conservatives. The radio is a dangerous place for liberals as it is one of very few forms of entertainment that do not add fluff to the story. Stories on the internet, on the television, etc. add fluff to there stories either by images that potentially distract you or by other means, but in radio there is nothing but you and the story. This form of entertainment allows you and almost causes you to think more about what is going on as this is the only way to keep you interested as there are no pretty pictures for you to see. In light of this the Democrats support this doctrine that will install a “non-biased” slant on radio stations, forcing them to cover both sides of the story.

The Liberals have tried this “non-biased” approach in almost all other mass media. All have these have a liberal tilt on them. You almost have to be a liberal to enter the field of journalism. Which is evident in seeing the fact that only 8% of journalists are conservative. But the major problem is that the public thinks there getting a non-biased opinion, this is the most dangerous part. Because that fact is you cant be knowingly brainwashed. So now the liberals want to take over another for of entertainment, the radio.

There are liberal talk show hosts out there so why aren’t they topping the charts? The answer is Americans turn on the shows like Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh because they know what there getting into, a stimulating, thought provoking, dose of the truth. This is what Americans want and Democrats shouldn’t force a “non-biased” opinion on these stations. If you don’t like what your hearing on these stations, change the channel.

NO IRAQ!!! But I’m Ok With Afghanistan

President Barack Obama just approved 17000 new troops to go to Afghanistan. “To meet urgent security needs, I approved a request from (Defense) Secretary Gates to deploy a Marine Expeditionary Brigade later this spring and an Army Stryker Brigade and the enabling forces necessary to support them later this summer,” Obama said in a statement issued by the White House. This all coming from the man and the party that were so against losing soldiers in Iraq, but suddenly it is ok to send them to Afghanistan. I don’t get the logic of the liberals, They wanted to pull the troops from Iraq because we were losing to many lives, only to be in full support of sending them to a different war with Afghanistan. Will somebody please explain this logic to me because honestly this sudden switch of support makes no sense to me. It seems they disregard history when there making this decision, because if we look into the past we will see that unless we have a full force war against Afghanistan we are going to lose. It happened to the British in 1842, 1880, and 1919. Three times the British launched attacks on Afghanistan and three times it ended in catastrophic defeat, either in the war it self or in 1919 in the amount of troops lost. Defeat also came to the Russia army in 1989 when they also attempted to attack Afghanistan. Unless a full strength attack, and 17000 troops is not a full strength attack, is launched on Afghanistan, we are sending out troops into a war they are going to lose. We all need to take a good look at history and then take a moment out of our day and ask ourselves, is this attack worth it?

This is a blog dedicated to the growth and advancement of conservative values amongst America’s younger generations mainly people 18 or younger (but this does not mean that if you are older you are excluded from discussion, on the contrary you are encouraged to join in). The purpose of the group is not to advocate or adhere to certain viewpoints or beliefs, rather it is to foster conservative thought and to provide a forum under which conservatives can discuss politics and events happening throughout the world. Through the blog, people will be able to express their thoughts and foster a spirit of conservatism that will last for years to come. How Much Socialism is in America?

Norman Mattoon Thomas was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America and said this in a 1944 speech: “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” He went on to say: “I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.”

I read this and laughed a little, half because its a funny quote and half because it is true this is exactly what is happening, socialism is slowly being integrated into the American society. I don’t think it will ever lead to a full socialism regime but how much socialism will we let in?

I am Alex Mattson and I am a Conservative

Hello I am Alex Mattson,

I am 17 years old and i am a conservative. There is a lack of interest in our government and important issues amongst younger individuals in our society. I am too young to vote but i am not to young to be taking a serious interest in our political system. I am also also not to young to realize that there are problems with different ideas and view points in this country. I am conservative because of a book a man gave to me called “Letters to a Young Conservative” by Dinesh D’souza. Since I read that book i have been critically looking into all sides trying to make the best decision about where I stand on my political philosophy. After many hours of reading, listening, studying, debating and thinking I have concluded that conservatism is the view I line up with and the one view that makes the most sense in its ideas to move America towards a progressive and better future.
